I wait for him to catch me
Amidst the cold, forbidding tones of The Knife's music (most particularly on Silent Shout), the was always an undercurrent of romance. In her solo effort, Karin Dreijer-Andersson crafted an album of surprising narratives, beautifully spare compositions that creep under your skin, embedding themselves with vivid imagery and sensations. "When I Grow Up" epitomizes all of this in a song with poetic lyrics loaded with romance and darkness. Dreijer-Andersson evokes nature and innocence with music that chills. What results is almost a musical equivalent of Alice in Wonderland: a bit fantastical, strange, a little scary, but fascinating and absorbing nonetheless.
