46. Jordin Sparks feat. Chris Brown "No Air"

With the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, "Twilight," and "High School Musical," this is a great time to be a teenage girl. So much of pop culture is being directed at girls, ages 11-18, the sweet tween-teen spot of daughters of Baby Boomers with disposable cash for calenders with Robert Pattinson on them.

One of the best new teen idols is 19-year old wunderkind, Chris Brown. Brown has all the exuberance and charm of a young Michael Jackson and the sweet, harmless demeanor of a 'NSYC-era Justin Timberlake. Joining forces with "American Idol" winner, Jordin Sparks, "No Air" is an appropriately schmaltzy ballad that doesn't win points on the hip quotient but it is ultimately incredibly satisfying. Melodramatic, melodic, "No Air" plays to both Brown and Sparks' strengths. Brown wins romance points proving himself in the pop arena. Brown's maturity (well, compared to Sparks) forces Sparks to step up and step up she does. In "No Air," Jordin doesn't sound like a teenage girl who got lucky on "Idol" rather she earns her place with her impassioned performance. "No Air" isn't breaking any new grounds but is it satisfying and perfect for what it is? Oh yeah.
