32. MGMT "Kids"

Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser realize that there is no Almost Famous-like fame and debauchery anymore. No one is snorting ants like Ozzy did or throwing couches out of the windows of the Chateau Marmont. The life of the rock star is far less glamorous and hedonistic than it once was yet that doesn't stop VanWyngarden and Goldwasser as MGMT from playing the part.

On "Kids," the drums sound loud enough to fill a stadium and the electronic fills are a throwback to glam rock and Nintendo. Less hedonistic than "Time to Pretend," "Kids" takes on the same nostalgia of a worry-free childhood. Taking a cue from tour mates Of Montreal, MGMT tackle sadness and nostalgia with a catchy danceable beat. This isn't quite weekend drug binges, but the music is still glamorous enough.
