26. Beach House "Wedding Bell"

In a review by Gumshoe at Tiny Mix Tapes, he compares the experience of listening to Beach House's sophomore album Devotion to the laconic relaxation of drugs, "opiated warmth" to be more specific. While I'm no drug consumer, I do see a point. Beach House specializes in dreamy, autumnal songs that wash over you and leave you feeling relaxed and completely at ease.

Opening track "Wedding Bell" is an exquisite example of what Beach House does best. Stunningly beautiful, the song feels lived in like an antique. Victoria Legrand's voice is on full display and her ethereal croon is lovely against the sweetly melodic song. Her impassioned cry of "Oh is your heart still mine to sail?" is as heartbreaking as the gorgeous chorus ["Oh, and your wish is my command" just tugs at my heart every time]. When I say that Devotion touched my soul, "Wedding Bell" is a huge reason for that statement.
