I was born in the 80s so my memory of them is incredibly limited. Everything I know is based off of John Hughes movies, stories from older siblings and VH1 [sad but true] but through M83 spectacular Saturdays=Youth floods me with vicarious memories of growing up in the 80s. One of the most sublime tracks is the stunning "Kim & Jessie." Equal parts vintage 4AD label acts, Thompson Twins and OMD, "Kim & Jessie" is filled with stunning synth work, melodic guitars, and wonderfully breathy vocals. The sweet bubblegum New Wave of the 80s is lovingly re-translated through Anthony Gonzalez. Detached verses give way to a soaring chorus, it is a song that wouldn't seem out of place in Sixteen Candles and that could be the best compliment to "Kim & Jessie"
I've featured this video in a previous entry. To check that out click here.
