Amidst the fuzz and indie pop influences lies a spectacular, vulnerable little gem on the Vivian Girls' self-titled album. "Where Do You Run To?" wears its influences on its sleeve: the Shangri-Las, The Wipers, 60s girl bands a plenty. Soaked in reverb like a lo-fi Phil Spector, "Where Do You Run To?" truest gem lies in the sublime three-part harmony by Cassie Ramone, Kickball Katy, and Ali Koehler. With a wink to the snappy lyrics of the Shangri-Las [reread those lyrics if you don't believe me], the Vivian Girls hold careless boys in their place and sound like a 21st Century incarnation of the streetwise Weiss and Ganser sisters.
