Cut Copy's "Unforgettable Season" might be the song of the summer, even if I didn't really hear it until the throes of winter. Containing a real gem of a bass line as a foundation [if I have a musical weak point, it's a great bass line], "Unforgettable Season" has light and summery washes of pseudo-psychedelic guitars and synths. It swoons and shimmers and completely danceable. Working on a great groove on par with New Order's "Temptation," Cut Copy crafts a song that translates on both the dancefloor and the headphones. Bands like The Killers may be mining similar territory, but Cut Copy manages to make it sound new and original.
