R.I.P Vic Chesnutt

Athens, Georgia-based singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt passed away this afternoon. He was 45 years old.

Constellation Records released this statement:

"In the few short years that we knew him personally, Vic transformed our sense of what true character, grace and determination are all about. Our grief is inexpressible and Vic's absence unfathomable."

Chesnutt had released over a dozen albums since the early 1990s, including collaborations with Michael Stipe, Lambchop, Elf Power, Van Dyke Parks, and A Silver Mount Zion. A prolific songwriter, Chesnutt's music was powerful and unique. He will be sorely missed.
