Jay Bennett was a talented songwriter and musician and a driving force (along with Jeff Tweedy) in Wilco during his time with the band from 1994 to 2001, helping craft the band's sounds on Being There, Summerteeth, Mermaid Avenue, and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. His departure from the band was chronicled in the documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart.He was immensely talented and I'll leave this post with one of my favorite performances of Bennett-era Wilco performances from I Am Trying to Break Your Heart.
