4. Fleet Foxes "White Winter Hymnal"

I don't know if it's important to know what "White Winter Hymnal" is about. I don't know if it's important to know that "White Winter Hymnal" is about Robin Pecknold getting abandoned by his friends at a party. I don't know if it's important discern which of the bearded guys is Robin Pecknold. I don't know if it's important to know that he grew up listening to his parents' records in the basement and sang along with them.

What is important is how "White Winter Hymnal" is a triumph of stunningly beautiful vocal and musical arrangements. Or how the song perfectly captures a pastoral winter. Or that you become lost in wonderful round robin harmonies. Or that those floor toms sound just like a heartbeat and that your heart pitter patters along with them. Or that the song is wildly evocative and descriptive with just 52-words in the entire song. Or that "White Winter Hymnal" is just simply a beautiful song worth listening to.
